What is Exfoliation? (video)

In this short video from DermTV, Dr. Neal Schultz discusses exfoliation.:

What exfoliation does NOT do:
  • does not make your skin more sensitive to the sun if you use sunscreen and don't over-exfoliate.
  • does not thin your skin.
  • does not dissolve other skincare products applied at the same time.
  • does not irritate skin if it is ph balanced.
  • does not affect the use of self tanners.
  • does not make you more vulnerable to herpes cold sore outbreaks.

What exfoliation DOES:
  • makes skin healthier, more radiant and younger looking.
  • helps prevent and control acne breakouts.
  • helps remove early abnormal cells that go on to form precancerous growths.
  • helps other skincare ingredients penetrate better into the skin.
  • helps moisturizers work better.
  • helps remove unwanted brown discolorations.
  • helps treat and prevent ingrowns.
  • removes the need for makeup and allows you to wear less.
  • helps self-tanners work better.
  • helps remove unsightly and uncomfortable callouses and fungus from the feet.
  • treats keratosis pilaris (chicken skin)

that is very good info about exfoliation you have provided, which helps in blowing myths. But one should also keep in mind that exfoliator must chosen such that it suites the type of skin, and would be best if it has natural ingredients in it.
