Dendritic Salt is a form of ordinary table salt (sodium chloride) in which the crystals appear star-like (dendritic) instead of normal cubes. This shape provides a number of advantages:

• High liquid absorptive capacity and anti-caking qualities

Because of these qualities, dendritic salt is useful in bath salt recipes to absorb fragrance additives. When highly scented dendritic salt is blended with other types of sea salt, the resulting mixture is free-flowing and resists caking. The super-fine grain size of this type of salt is beneficial in facial and body scrub applications as well as offering a cost effective alternative to more expensive specialty salts.
