A poll from The American Cleaning Institute indicates 83% of Americans want the right to choose germ-killing products such as antibacterial hand soaps. We at Smell No Evil, Ltd. make a conscious choice to NOT use antibacterial soaps because they contribute to antibiotic-resistant viruses. The Mayo Clinic reminds us to keep in mind that antibacterial soap is no more effective at killing germs than is regular soap. In this short video from DermTV, Dr. Neal Schultz explains how to properly wash your hands:
- Choose proper water temperature
- 10-15 seconds is more than enough time
- Soap should not be too caustic
- Avoid using brushes and washcloths
- Pat hands dry, do not rub
- Frequency - overwashing can cause rashes
