This facial masque can be prepared easily and in just a few minutes. Melons are loaded with vitamins A and C, potassium, calcium, iron, beta carotene (cantaloupe) and lycopene (watermelon), one of the most effective antioxidants. Cucumber and melon both have a cooling effect on the skin. Ingredients:
- Equal parts Cucumber and Melon flesh (organic if possible, use whatever type of melon you can find: Watermelon, Honeydew, Cantaloupe, Bitter Melon)
- Colloidal Oatmeal -1/2 teaspoon
Directions:- Chop cucumber in a food processor, do not discard the peel and seeds.
- Remove melon flesh of choice from the rind. Discard the seeds and pulverize melon flesh in food processor with cucumber.
- Add the colloidal oatmeal.
- Scoop mixture into a glass or stainless steel container that has been sterilized.
Applying the Masque:- Using a circulation motion, apply mixture to face and neck with your fingers.
- Leave on for about 5-10 minutes or until it dries.
- Tissue off the bulk and rinse well with warm water.
- Pat skin dry and moisturize.
About the Ingredients:- Watermelon is rich in lycopene, an antioxidant.
- Cantaloupe is rich in beta carotene, Vitamin A & Vitamin C.
- Bitter Melon is rich in Potassium, B-vitamins, Vitamin A & Vitamin C (Avoid bitter melon if you are allergic or susceptible to favism).
- Colloidal Oatmeal has natural soothing and moisturizing properties.
Additional Information:- Mix this recipe right before you are ready to use it.
- If you have extra left, discard it, share with someone or use it on other areas.
- If your skin is super sensitive or if the mixture is too thin, add more colloidal oatmeal (to soothe and/or thicken) to the recipe.
- If you would like to use this masque as an exfoliating treatment, add 1 or 2 Tbs Organic Evaporated Cane Juice (Sugar). Avoid large grain sugars like turbinado as they can tear delicate facial tissue.

If you missed our Sachet Bead Tutorial previously, you can revisit Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3.
For this project, you will need:8 oz Sachet Beads
2.5 oz Fragrance OilMicaTitanium Dioxide Powder - Oil SolubleWe used the following combinations of scent & color:Phase 1: Measure sachet beads, mica and fragrance oil into a glass jar that has a tightly fitting lid.
Phase 2: Cover with a lid and allow to sit for up to 1 week. Agitate several times a day. The beads will eventually absorb the fragrance oil and become dry to the touch. Some fragrances absorb quickly and others require longer to absorb. Be sure to agitate frequently to ensure color and fragrance are distributed uniformly.Phase 3: When beads have dried, pack them into a metal cookie cutter (the ring type) to about 1/4" deep. For best results, place your cookie cutters on a non-stick baking surface before filling.Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place cookie sheet in oven for 5-10 minutes. Keep careful watch over your ornaments to prevent them from completely melting. The sachet beads will melt slightly and run together, but will not completely flatten out. The beads will retain a slightly bumpy appearance on top. Some smoking is normal as some fragrance oil will burn off. When time is up, allow ornaments to cool completely before removing the cookie cutter. The ornaments will appear to be stuck to the cookie sheet, but will lift away rather easily. A nail or other sharp object can be used to poke a hole through the top of your ornament. Tie with jute, cord, or ribbon and package.Note: It is best to hang these air-fresheners rather than to lay them on any surface as the fragrance and/or mica may damage plastic or upholstered surfaces. I just saw these at a Big Box store this weekend where they were retailing between $12-$15/jar. They are simple (and relatively inexpensive) to make!If you missed our Sachet Bead Tutorial previously, you can revisit Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3.For this project, you will need:8 oz Sachet Beads
2.5 oz Fragrance OilMicaPhase 1: Measure sachet beads, mica and fragrance oil into a glass jar that has a tightly fitting lid.
Phase 2: Cover with a lid and allow to sit for up to 1 week. Agitate several times a day. The beads will eventually absorb the fragrance oil and become dry to the touch. Some fragrances absorb quickly and others require longer to absorb. Be sure to agitate frequently to ensure color and fragrance are distributed uniformly.Phase 3: When beads have dried, distribute them into our glass jars with daisy cut out lids. A handy safety seal is included to prevent beads from pouring out of the lid in transit. Simply instruct the receiver to shake the beads upon receipt, then remove the seal to enjoy the fragrance! Note: Avoid allowing the beads to lay directly on any surface as the fragrance and/or mica may damage plastic or upholstered surfaces. FYI: If you are feeling creative, try combining different colors and/or scents in the same jar.Allison B. Konturwww.BathBodySupply.com
You will need:
1 oz Olive Butter
1 oz Aloe Butter1 oz Behenyl Alcohol
5 ml Castor Oil5-7 ml Jojoba Meal Exfoliant (more if you prefer a grittier product)1 ml Carnauba Wax
1 ml Candelilla Wax
3 ml Tocopherol (Antioxidant)1 ml Mint Chill Flavor Fragrance OilPhase 1: In a double boiler over medium heat, melt olive butter, aloe butter, behenyl alcohol, castor oil, carnauba wax & candelilla wax until liquified. Remove from heat.
Phase 2: Allow to cool slightly before adding tocopherol, flavor fragrance and jojoba meal. Stir well to incorporate all ingredients.
Phase 3: Allow to cool, stirring continuously so that jojoba meal does not sink to the bottom. Pour into lip balm tubes when mixture has cooled slightly (don't wait too long, or it will be difficult to get a decent pour) and allow to cool completely before capping.
To use: Apply to lip area, working product in to gently exfoliate. Using a tissue, gently wipe off and follow with lip balm or gloss to hydrate and nourish newly exfoliated lips.

I love to cook as much as I love to formulate and this super-simple recipe is perfect for any fruit, but especially good for fruit that is blemished or beginning to turn! Great if you've put-up enough fruit to last the winter and you're tired of canning and/or freezing it!
You will need:
6-8 Medium Pears (any variety)
1/2 cup Organic All-Purpose Flour
1/2 cup Organic Cane Sugar
1/2 stick Chilled, Organic, Unsalted Butter1/2 cup Organic Walnuts or Pecans1-2 Tbs Crystallized Ginger Preheat Oven to 350F. Peel and slice pears into bite size pieces. Spread across the bottom of a baking dish (I use an 8x8 Pyrex baking dish). In a Cuisinart, combine flour, sugar, butter, ginger & nuts and pulse until combined. Spread evenly over fruit. Bake uncovered at 350F for 25-35 mins or until browned and fruit has softened. Serve warm with a side of Vanilla Bean Gelato!

Peach kernels are made up of approximately 40 – 50 percent oil, for which the properties are said to be similar to that of almond or apricot oil.The oil is light in texture, non-greasy and easily absorbed, helping to maintain the suppleness and elasticity the skin. Because it is such a light oil it can be particularly effective for delicate skin and is gentle enough to be used in face creams and baby products.Peach Kernel Oil is similar in its properties to Apricot Kernel and Sweet Almond Oils. Although not as commonly produced as its substitutes, Peach Kernel Oil is found in higher end cosmetics, fine lotions and creams and makes an excellent facial massage product.
